Life Coach for Adolescents & Young Adults

Executive Functioning
Executive Functioning is how your brain gets you from point A to point B without you even realizing it. It's what kicks in when you're doing stuff like homework, figuring out a map, following a recipe, or playing a video game. The list below is just a few of the Executive Functioning skills Courageous EDGE can help you develop through Coaching.

Time Management
Time Management is all about getting things done on time. It means tackling the urgent stuff first and figuring out what can wait. Looking at a task and guessing correctly how long it will take. Plus, it’s about finding a good balance between your responsibilities and taking time for yourself to relax and recharge.

Social Support
If you look at all of the people in your life, they can often be included in one of two groups- your Outer Circle or Inner Circle. Your Outer Circle might include some friends, teammates, teachers and extended family. These are people you like and talk to often, but they probably don't know your whole story. Then there is your INNER Circle. These are your best friends and the people you're closest to in your family. You can tell them anything, and you know you can turn to them if you need help. Social Support comes in many forms, not just from your Inner Circle. Sometimes you just need to hang with friends. But Social Support is the physical and emotional help you get from all of the people in your life.

Planning
Planning is similar to Time Management, but uses different skills. Where Time Management helps you balance hours and minutes in a day, Planning is organizing your day or how to complete a task. Think of it this way, Time Management will tell you how long it takes to bake a cake. While Planning helps you make sure you have the all ingredients, follow the recipe correctly, and make enough for your guests.

Organization
Organization, or disorganization, can look different for everyone. Our rooms can be neat and tidy, but your homework and schedule is a mess. Your rooms and backpack can look like a landfill, but you complete tasks on time and you are on time too. Or, you're a mess, your room is a mess, and nothing is organized. Whatever the case, Organization is a skill. Rarely are people are born with it, but it can be developed with practice, made stronger, like a muscle.

Health & Nutrition
A Life Coach is not like an Athletic Coach at your school. So, as we talk about Health & Nutrition the goal is for you to identify barriers to your health and what you're eating. If this is something you want a Life Coach for, then you probably already know some changes you want to make. We will work together as you make Action Plans to overcome those barriers. And your Life Coach keeps you accountable to your Plan.

Task Initiation
We've talked about the other 4 key Executive Function skills that help us handle tasks: Time Management, Problem Solving, Organization, and Planning. So, finally, it's time for Task Initiation and I've saved the best for last! If you never begin, the rest don’t really matter! We all have moments of feeling stuck, but getting started is what counts. Coaching can help you figure out what’s holding you back and give you the tools to get those tasks going!
